Here at Class, changing the way the world learns is what we focus on every single day.

We aim to do more than make technology. We want to make a difference — and that’s why today we are launching Class Cares. Class Cares is an initiative that takes our team’s commitment to help and puts it into action through volunteering, donations, and partnerships to help students in need around the world.

A few days ago, a team of Class employees gathered in Washington, D.C. to pack over 200 backpacks brimming with back-to-school supplies for deserving students who attend DC Public Schools (DCPS). And in Denver, we’ve partnered with the Kids in Need Foundation (KINF) to provide 155 students at the American Indian Academy Charter School with backpacks to send them back to school ready to learn.

Now, you may be wondering, how an EdTech startup connects with school districts and offers help. Naturally, Class team member @MsSutherd connected directly with schools on TikTok, where you can follow our daily adventures and Class Cares efforts at @WeAreClassTech.

Class Cares is a new initiative, and these early donations of time and resources are the first of what we know will be many caring acts to come. “These backpacks carry with them our belief that education is the key to a better future,” said Natlee Green, Vice President of People at Class.

It is fitting that our first initiative helps kids right here in our hometown in Washington, D.C., where 25% of people live below poverty. At least 1 in 5 children in the US who live below the federal defined poverty line cannot afford back-to-school supplies. Class is here to help.

Class Cares is a long-term corporate social responsibility initiative that aims to address education and community needs around the world. We are committed to providing ongoing support to future Class Cares projects far into the future. Next up is a partnership with Habitat for Humanity to build a house just in time for World Habitat Day this October.

Whether it’s through Class Cares, or our work every day to build teaching and learning tools, we know the greatest thing we make is not software — it’s impact.
